winter break is over, and 2009 is here.

New Year's Eve
Esther came over!!!!!! mostly because we had our watch night service and she had no ride from San Leandro. But either way, it was fun. We left my house at around 7:00 ish. and kinda got lost dropping off little Nathan at babysitting.  And I had to chase down one of the kids, Timmy, who somehow managed to escape out of the room.  I think he was attracted by a toy in the other room......So by now it's like 7:30, so we spend the next half hour finding people (mostly youth people) whom Esther hasn't seen in three months. And random people would come up to us and laugh at our attachment to youth. X___x
Service started at around 8:00 with an extended praise time. (We managed to over power the electrical system, which was funny, normally not a problem but we were singing a new song, so only a few people knew the lyrics......hehe)  Then people gave testimonies, and Pastor Ed talked. We had reflection time, Lord's Supper, more praise. And our countdown to 2009 was cut short. but that's ok. Then we went around wishing people a "HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (which caused a mass spread of germs......more on the later) and families handed out cards to people. The ones with little kids in them are so CUTE!. Then we moved into the gym next door and had snacks and just hung out with people. Esther and I got home at around 1:45 am. ^___^
I was very tired the next day...........

New Year's Day
Esther and I got up at around 10 because there was a A2F wide luncheon at 12:00. So, we walked over to the given location and are a block away when we see some A2F staff driving by, who tell us the lucheon has been moved to 4:00. X____x. So we walk back to my house, Esther takes a nap and I watch the Rose Bowl (USC won!!!!!!) And we leave again at around 3:30.
For the luncheon, which is now a dinner, we made dumplings!!!!!!! We spread out around the house and had five different tables making jiao zhi. The kids ended up at a table by themselves, so listening to Frances guilding them on how to make mandoo was very fun.  My table was fun because on of the father's was there and he was telling us stories about the odd/funny things that his two daughters have done.
After eating way too much, we played a traditional Korean New Year's day called Yut Nori (sp?). It's kinda like Sorry!, but much more fun. Basically, you have four sticks, which act like dice, and before you roll you are supposed to chant the number that you need. Which was really crazy because we had two games going on at once. I'm surprised that the neighbors didn't call the police because by this time, it was getting kinda late. My team was having a lot of luck because a) we had John Korea who is the master at this game and b) his son, Nathan, was our good luck charm.
Afterwards, me and some of the sister staff went to northloop to play basketball.  There were also some other people there, so we played three one three for a while. Then when we got tired, we took turns playing the drums. Which was funny because at one point, one of our main drummers walks in to see who was played. He was there working on something.  Then more people came, so we played Knock Out. And I left at around 11:00.

Friday
I stayed at home most of the day until bible study.  It was just me, Yao, and some of the staff. I was the youngest one there, highlighted when someone made the comment that for girls, the prime age of their life is around 21.  We  had dumplings for dinner, surprise surprise. Then we had d.t sharing, talked about what we looked forward to int he coming year.

my weekend

My first week back home and IT'S BEEN AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
My roommate was living with me from last Tuesday night to Friday because she was going stay with her sister till next week, but her sister didn't have any room for her till Friday. And my roommate finished her finals on Monday and I finished mine on Tuesday.

Friday: BIBLE STUDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the whole college department had a combined bible study at 1st pres church in Berkeley.  We started with some icebreakers, which was us being divided into like 50 plus groups of about 8 people.  We went around and introduced ourselves, small group leader and k group, and one interesting fact about ourselves.  My interesting fact was that I am right handed but left footed.  Then.........they called out random people to answer questions about the past year that had numerical answers. Like how many people__________.  that was kinda unfair for the freshman because they have only been here for the past three months. But oh well.
Then we had praise (CHRISTMAS SONGS! I've been going around singing "Angels We Have Heard on High" and "Joy to the World" all week ), and Pastor Will gave the message on Luke 2:1-20, the birth of Jesus and the events preceding and following events.
Afterward, some of the leaders came up with starting a new tradition of gathering on the Cal campus and singing Christmas songs - Silent Night, Angels We Have Heard on High, and Joy to the World - with each person holding a little LED light.  We were joined by ISM and Praxis after the first song.
Then, we split into our k groups and had gift exchanges.  A2Fblue was on the first floor of the Y (YWCA). we had snacks before the time of craziness began.  We put all of the gifts on a table in the middle, and received a number and a piece of paper with a action writing on in. We divided ourselves into groups though rock, paper, scissors.  FRESHMAN LOSERS!!!!!!!!!!! hehe. then, by team, we went up and grabbed a random gift and opened it. Then Mike Fu and Jackson Lao called out numbers. And who ever's number got called, they had to do whatever their card said. So, mine said : you have 30 seconds to swtich as many people's gifts as possible". that was.....interesting. For a while I had a Cal beannie that I really wanted, but then Caleb, Pastor Will's son, took it from me. AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH. now I have to go buy myself one. X____x. oh welll
Afterwards, i dropped my roommate off at her sisters house. And got home at like 1:10 in the morning. *sigh* I've missed Firday nigh bible studies.

Saturday: Joyland Christmas Celebration practice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My phone decided to freeze, so I couldn't use it at all.  Which is bad because my ride, Frances, couldn't call me to tell me that she was going to be late. So I went outside at 9:00 am and ended up waiting outside for 20 minutes. At least it wasn't too cold. And so I got to Willard at around 10 ish and attempted to find out where I was assigned to help out. I was supposed to help with overflow set up and decorations, but while I was getting something to eat, I somehow got snagged into prop moving again. YAY, NINJA TIME!!!!!!!!!!! (prop movers are called ninjas because we wear all black so that the audience sees us as little as possible when we are taking props on and off).  I was assigned to the Fourth thru Sixth graders Shepards scene. This was a totally different experience from last year, because i moved props for Joytown, which only had one scene, but FTS had SEVEN scences. talk about having to move swiftly but scilently. And on stage we have to manuver throught the side curtains.  There were four people who's job was just to hold the curtains aside so that we could get the props through the sides of the stage.  that made our job so much less complicated.  So each skit had run through so that the prop mover would know where to put the props, so we had to stop after each scene to put down tape to outline where the props would go. Then there was a dress rehersal minus the costumes. which was funny to watch because the kids looked odd without their costumes. for example, Joie was supposed to be this selfish girl who thought that everyone wasn't treating her they way that they were supposed to. But she was in bball shorts and a t-shirt. In the actually skit, she had to get her hair curled (she hated that) and wear "designer" clothing. I couldn't help but laugh.
So, I ended up getting home at like 6:00, after spending a while trying to find out who was going back to Alameda. ^___^

a long, but fun day

I want to go to sleep!!!!!!!! But I have a art history paper due tomorrow.

As per usual, I went to church today. And for once, I didn't hear disturbing stories of Tom's old car and his ability to take odd routes to church every week.  But the stories are so funny, I missed it.  I think it's because the b\guys were tired.  They didn't talk much in general today.
So, after church and lunch, me, Steve, Kevin and D Chung went to Jonas' house to practice for Thanksgiving Celebration NEXT SUNDAY!!!!!!!!! ( I am totally screwed). I am playing keyboard, Steve is playing bass, Kevin is playing guitar, Jonas is playing drums, and D Chung was just kinda there. On the day of, he is going to be rapping, but today he filled in for our singer, Justin.  And D Chung can't sing, so half the time we were laughing at him and his complete inability to sign remotely on key.  Then, about an hour and a half later, Albert and Janice came over with their kids, so we got to play with them.  We went to in-n-out (YES, NOT DORM FOOD!!!) to eat dinner. And I got attacked by Noah and Noelle with stickers.

and on the way home Steve and Jonas put me, Kevin and D Chung to sleep by talking about the NBA and different players, how much they make and trades that should/shouldn't be made. and other things involving basketball.......................

And now I am almost done with my paper. Just need the conclusion and two more sentences for my intro. I I get a C on this, I will be very happy.
